Mandated Reporters

California, like most states, has laws requiring certain workers—including staffs in long-term care facilities—to report abuse or neglect of the elderly and dependent adults.  The Senate Office of Oversight is examining the effectiveness of these laws, including one that requires banks to report suspected financial abuse.

Veterans

The Interagency Council on Veterans was created by an executive order of the governor on August 23, 2011. Its goal was to coordinate all levels of government in addressing the pressing needs of California’s 1.8 million veterans. Three years later, the Senate Oversight Office is taking a look at how the council operates – and examining the outcomes.
